This one was awesome!!! Im still exploring... it is a collection of everyting i wanted to learn about through 2.0 in one place. Im going on a trip soon so I loved 'Yelp'. Also 'Lulu' is obviously going to play a huge future role in the publishing industry. Playing with 'Cocktail builder' at the moment, very cool. I also think that the music ones should be taken notice of, libraries have always been a large part of the distribution of entertainment as well as information and digital music is already very very popular. Still exploring and learning!

Cant say this was my favourite activity, not too sure why this is easier than using normal word , or at least for me. I guess the fact that is free is a big bonus! (if i didnt already have those documents in my computer). Following is the link to a litle note i tried out on Zoho Word. It is very easy o use especially because it has all the same functions as normal word. The above I published directly from Zoho, that was pretty cool! :)

Week 7

Wiki!!!
I love the idea of a wiki for book reviews. As a student I am constantly warned away from the unreliable dangers of wiki information. More than one of my tutors will use the phrase 'avoid wikipedia like the plague'. However for reading pieces that are clearly opinion, its brilliant. Every library should have a wikipedia book review page. Unfortunatly it does take a while for these to gain popularity, the library workers would certainly have to contribute - at least at the beginning to encourage other library users to participate.

Week 6

Well... I have to say (and I am sorry to be a spoil sport) but i found the tasks for 13 and 14 really dull. I think that technorati and del.icio.us are both sites that you would need to spend a bit of time at to find something unique and interesting. Also perhaps I dont 'surf' around enough but I dont have any problems finding what I need/like and more organising I just find creates clutter... Anyway maybe Im just in a bad mood this week and unimpressed, I will probably try to give it another go.
However I did find the information from task 15 really interesting. I loved the 'Away from the icebergs'' article. It is so true about the 'just in case' collection, this also applies to book stores as well as on the spot printing for books is not too far away (i believe that New York library has a print on order book machine - but dont quote me on that). I also thought that the article 'To a temporary place in time...' raised some important points on the communal side of libraries. The community service aspect is often forgotten in discussions on the future of digital technology.
Hmmm... Still thinking... and learning...
